Let’s have a conversation

The first call is free, lasts about twenty minutes, and there is nothing to prepare beyond a recent piece of your child’s written work if you have one to hand.

I will ask what is going wrong and what you have already tried. I will tell you honestly whether I think I can help, roughly how long it would take, and what it would cost. If I do not think I am the right person, I will say so — I would far rather point you somewhere useful than take on work I cannot do well.

I usually reply within [24 hours]. During term time I teach in the day, so evenings are the best time to reach me.

The single most useful thing you can bring

Your child’s most recent mock paper, with the examiner’s marks still on it. Ten minutes with that tells me more than an hour of conversation.

What happens next

1

I reply within [24 hours] and we find twenty minutes that suits you both.

2

We talk. You bring the mock paper; I bring straight answers about what I think is possible.

If it is a fit, we book a diagnostic first lesson. If it is not, I will tell you so.
